Glossary
Vending terms, in plain English
A quick reference for the words that come up when you set up snack vending for your business.
- Fully managed vending
- A vending service where the provider owns, installs, stocks, cleans, and repairs the machines at no cost to the host business. The host provides the space, the operator handles everything else.
- Zero-cost vending
- Vending placed at a host location at no charge. There are no leases, rental fees, or service contracts; the operator earns from sales at the machine.
- Micro-market
- An open, self-checkout snack and drink area for larger sites. It offers a wider selection than a single machine, with the same managed, zero-cost service.
- Smart vending machine
- A connected vending machine with cashless payment and real-time inventory monitoring, so it stays stocked and working with less manual checking.
- Cashless vending
- Vending that accepts card and contactless (phone) payment instead of requiring cash or exact change.
- Telemetry
- Real-time data sent from a connected machine reporting sales, inventory, and status, so issues are caught before a slot goes empty.
- Planogram
- The arrangement of products inside a machine. A good planogram is tuned to what actually sells at a specific location.
- Predictive maintenance
- Using a machine's data to flag a likely mechanical or cooling issue before it causes downtime, so service happens ahead of a breakdown.
- Service-area business
- A business that serves customers at their own locations rather than from a public storefront. Quicsnax is a service-area vending supplier covering the Greater Atlanta metro, Georgia.
- Better-for-you vending
- A vending mix that emphasizes wholesome, nutritious options (protein, low-sugar, plant-based) alongside classic snacks, so teams have real choice.
